How does it work?

Install
A fully-managed Local Area Network (LAN) is professionally installed at your property. Consisting of equipment securely accomodated within telecommunications access cabinets, your LAN is connected to Icon Networks’ Wide Area Network (WAN) by a high-speed connection.

Connect
Cables are run from the equipment cabinet to each apartment or unit.

Access
Each apartment is provided with its own access point delivering 1-2mbps Internet connectivity1. Subscribing apartment owners or tenants connect via a standard Ethernet RJ45 connection, or a wireless client adapter card, or exisiting telephone lines2. Many users will already own suitable connectors, but Icon Networks can supply them if required.

[1] Minimum connection speed 1mbps. Speeds of over 2mbps can be delivered to properties at no additional cost once 40+ users are subscribed. Note that Australian broadband services are generally delivered at only 256-512kbps, which is inadequate for on-demand video and other services.
